With all the rain we’ve been having here in Los Angeles you might be planning a winter getaway, because in the mountains, that means snow!  Whether you will be strolling city sidewalks or sitting by the fire in a country cabin, I have some great essentials to pack, keep you warm and of course, looking great.

My recommendations:

1. Layers
Forgo the bulky sweaters which are tough to pack and oftentimes don’t fit well under a coat. Those wool sweaters also limit your ability to switch up outfits with different accessories.  Instead opt for turtlenecks or long sleeve tees which can be worn on their own, under a cardigan or button down shirt or under a jacket.  You can also change up your look by wrapping a scarf around you.  Here is a timeless guide on how to layer clothing.

1. J.Crew Tissue Tee
2. LL.Bean Silk Tee
3. James Perse Slub Tee

2.  Waterproof Boots
Leave your nice booties at home for now.  Snow, rain, and salt can wreak havoc on your shoes even if they have been pre-treated.  Instead, pack boots which were built to withstand the elements.  There are so many sleek options nowadays (no more trudging around with what looked like a guy’s boot on your foot!).

1. The North Face
2. Sorel
3. Burberry

3. Sunscreen and Moisturizer
Wind and dry cold air can take a toll on your skin.  Prepare your skin with a thick moisturizer and a sunscreen (at least SPF 60) to ward off the winter sun’s harmful rays.  And always remember to reapply throughout the day!

1. Destiny Candle (use as body oil!)
2. Rodan + Fields
3. LaRoche Posay Sunscreen
4. Painted Earth Boo Boo Gel

4. Hats
Keep your head warm and your style cool with one of my favorite accessories, a hat! Hats can really complete your outfit. When your go-to adornments, like necklaces and rings, are hidden under jackets and gloves, wearing a hat will be both practical and stylish.

1. Stetson Crushable (great for packing!)
2. Brixton Floppy Hat
3. Rebecca Minkoff Beanie
