About Gayle Theodora Drake, Owner/CEO

As one of South Bay’s leading Wardrobe and Image Consultants, I am dedicated to my clientele. When I started my business I asked myself, “What would I want and expect from this type of investment?” When hiring people who work for me, I would want someone who really listens, who is an expert in their field and who would anticipate my needs. GTD Image Consulting takes it a step further, by providing  The Gold Standard of service for my clientele.

TEST

My expertise lies in business and professional image assessments, wardrobe and closet makeovers, concierge shopping and personal styling.  I encourage my clients to to use their own unique style and take control of the image they present to the world each and every day.  “It’s not about the size you wear, but the way you wear your size.”

I develop a very close relationship with my clients due to the nature of our time together, I truly care about helping them with their body image so they feel beautiful in their clothing. What I would like clients and prospective clients to know to about me, is that I’m a visionary and I love a challenge.  My greatest hope for my clients after our time spent together is that I have relieved their stress and anxiety, leaving them with a calming effect and a peacefulness when they look into their closets.

“Success Leaves Clues”

You’ve heard the saying “success leaves clues” right?

If you trace back to your childhood, you will find the starting point of your passions. You may not have been able to define it as such back then, but you knew you were drawn to certain things that just made you light up! Those passions illuminated your character and affected your choices.

Early on, my passion was fashion. I had always loved the beautiful clothes, shoes, accessories and makeup in the fashion magazines as well as the performing arts. I played dress up and pretended that I was a princess. I dreamed I would one day own racks of beautiful clothing and would have something new to wear every day. I remember in kindergarten my teacher kept a pair of lace high heels in the dress up area, I felt so glamorous and confident in those pumps!

As a young girl I took dance lessons in ballet, tap and jazz. I loved performing on stage, but the real excitement went on backstage, fussing with hair, costumes, jewelry and putting on the final touches of makeup!

By the age of 16, I became a licensed makeup artist and worked for major cosmetic lines such as Ralph Lauren, Charles of the Ritz and Yves Saint Laurent. It was around this time that the modeling world captured my attention. I began working with a professional photographer at his studio as his makeup artist. Which then segued into working as one of his talent scouts at his modeling agency.
Soon, my modeling career took off and I began traveling the country doing fashion shows.

In 1988 I worked on the movie “Her Alibi” starring Tom Selleck and Paulina Porizkova. At the time Paulina was one of the biggest supermodels in the world. I was hired as her stand-in and photo double. We shot for three months that summer. I was working 12-hour days and spent time with stars such as Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Selleck, Patrick Wayne, Ric Ocasek from the Cars and other cast members. What a learning experience that was! In the same year, I made the move to California and shortly after arriving, I was picked up by an agency in Milan, Italy and I started to really build my portfolio.
After returning from Milan, the following few years were like a dream come true. I was newly married and soon after got a great offer to work with Elle MacPherson on the first ever NBC Swimwear Special, I had the opportunity to be a contestant on Star Search as a spokesmodel, and I was booking print advertisements, TV commercials, calendar shoots, and modeling La Perla lingerie and major swimwear companies. I also walked the runways for top designers such as Emanuel Ungaro, Donna Karan, Caroline Roehm, Carolina Herrera, Nolan Miller and Mark Zunino.

In 1992, motherhood enters my life for the first time! Fast forward…now a proud mother of three amazing boys and married to a wonderful man, I began to search back through the clues of my passions. What’s my true calling, my purpose?

My inspiration is my family, I have a passion for fashion and beautifying environments, people and their lives but when it comes down to it, I was ready to switch gears from my 28 year career as a model and provide all of my inside knowledge about fashion to help others.

As a working mother or a “mompreneur” as they call it, I know just how hard it is to start every day on the right foot. It can be a challenge to juggle all the different responsibilities of our busy lives, but I firmly believe how you do one thing, is how you do everything. I help my clients confidently stand in their own spotlight and hopefully lead a more organized (and stylish) life!
