With the rain and cold temperatures we’ve been having in LA, I’m now longing for a warm weather getaway!  Hawaii anyone?  Or how about Cabo?  In my previous newsletter I recommended some stylish and practical items to keep you warm, but if you’re now ready for a tropical destination, below are a few essentials to keep you looking great and feeling cool.

My recommendations:

1. Breezy Dresses
Perfect for throwing on over your bathing suit or for a dinner out! Dresses are a no-fuss option to bring for warm weather.  Keep your look casual with flats or sandals for day, then you can dress it up with a pair of wedges later.  Opt for more fun colors or prints you wouldn’t typically wear back at home.

2.  Versatile Accessories
Warm weather climates typically call for a more casual aesthetic.  Keep jewelry and accessories streamlined and simple and as always, leave the really expensive items safe at home!  With all the gorgeous totes out there, you can easily go from beach to brunch with the same bag.  And chunky, fun jewelry can look great day or night.

3. Comfortable Lightweight Pants
These pants are great for a warm weather getaway AND the upcoming summer season.  Pair with a simple black or white tee for a sophisticated but easy outfit.  Just remember to get a pair that fits well and to create a slimming look for wide leg linen pants – forgo belt loops and pockets which can add unnecessary bulk.

4. Skincare and Haircare
Make sure to take extra care of your skin and hair in hot climates. The sun, sand, salt water and chlorine all do damage. Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before stepping outside and don’t forget to reapply throughout the day.

5.  Just for the Guys!
Although most of my clients are women, I style a handful of male clients as well! But most of you women are doing the packing for them and we’d like them to look put together too!  Beach vacations can mean a constant rotation of board shorts and t-shirts.  Mix it up, casual can be sophisticated too.  Try swapping worn out flip-flops for leather sandals or white sneakers, and trade board shorts for crisply tailored shorts and a nice linen shirt.  I promise it won’t take too much effort to look pulled together for happy hour!
